Pop-Up Artists Announced for October – Come and Visit!
Each month the SHS features different artists. Come by to view this amazing work. A portion of all sales supports the work of the Steveston Historical Society. Alongside feature displays, there will also be postcards, art cards, and stickers available for purchase by Sarah Glen and Roxsane Tanner.
Margot D’Souza
We are thrilled to welcome back local Steveston artist Margot D’Souza to the Pop-Up Art Space for the month of October.
Margot has been surrounded by music, art, and the beauty of nature throughout her life, all of which have deeply influenced her lifestyle and artistic passions. She has taken numerous courses and workshops over the years, with a brief pause to raise her family.
Upon retirement, her passion for drawing, painting, and photography returned in full force. An avid photographer and birder, Margot draws much of her inspiration from photos she’s taken and sketches she’s made during her travels around the world, as well as from walks through her local surroundings along the trails of Steveston. Nature offers her endless inspiration—whether painting on location or in the studio. In recent years, her focus has shifted to bird photography, and translating those images onto canvas has become a truly rewarding experience.
Margot primarily works in oil and is a member of the Richmond Artists Guild, the Richmond Arts Coalition, and Men in Hats.

Marilyn Piccinin
Marilyn Piccinin, a local Richmond resident and lifelong painter, began her artistic journey with “tole painting” – a decorative form of painting in oil or acrylic. Marilyn now prefers watercolour and paints and paints weekly with a group of local artists.
While living in the UK during the 1980s, Marilyn took her first watercolour classes—and it has remained her favourite medium ever since. Today, she continues to enjoy weekly painting sessions alongside other talented local artists.
Marilyn’s work reflects her deep appreciation for the natural world and the quiet pleasures found outdoors.
