Why join

Since 1976, the Steveston Historical Society has worked to preserve and share the history of Steveston. Members make that work possible.

  • Your membership helps fund our programs, walking tours and heritage projects.
  • You have a say in how the Society is run, and can stand for its board.
  • You hear about what’s coming up, and ways to get involved, before most people do.

  • A vote at our Annual General Meeting and any special meetings
  • Advance notice of events

We’re growing what membership offers. Here’s what members can look forward to:

  • A membership card with your name, your member number and the year you joined.
  • An early booking window. Tours and programs with limited places appear in the member newsletter first, usually about a week before they’re posted publicly.
  • Member prices on walking tours, set for each tour.
  • Invitations to member events from time to time, such as an opening reception for a Pop-Up art show or a walking tour with our Executive Director.
  • Starting in spring 2027, a member discount on SHS merchandise. The discount does not apply to artists’ work.

We’ll share details in the newsletter as each of these gets underway.

How to become a member

Join Online

  1. Choose a membership above and select Join.
  2. Fill in your details at checkout, and pay by credit card or e-Transfer.
  3. We’ll email you a receipt right away, and be in touch about your membership.

Prefer Paper?

  1. Download and complete the membership form (PDF).
  2. Pay by cash, cheque (made out to “Steveston Historical Society”) or e-transfer to info@historicsteveston.ca.
  3. Mail or drop off your form at the Steveston Historical Society, 3811 Moncton Street, Richmond, BC V7E 3A7.
