Scarecrows appear all over the village through October, and the Society builds one every year.
This year ours is a historic mailman, and he will be standing outside the front door of the Steveston Museum and Post Office for the whole month. There is a reason for the costume: mail has been handled on this spot since 1890, and the counter inside is still a working post office.
