SUMMARY:Steveston Scarecrow Crawl
DESCRIPTION:Scarecrows appear all over the village through October\, and the Society builds one every year. \n\n\n\nThis year ours is a historic mailman\, and he will be standing outside the front door of the Steveston Museum and Post Office for the whole month. There is a reason for the costume: mail has been handled on this spot since 1890\, and the counter inside is still a working post office. \n\n\n\nWalk the crawl\, find the others\, and come and say hello to ours. The Scarecrow Crawl runs the length of October and is organised by the Steveston Merchants Association.

SUMMARY:Letters to Santa
DESCRIPTION:An annual tradition to create a childhood memory\n\n\n\nThe holidays are near and Santa is waiting for the first letters of the season to arrive. Our charming heritage building is the ideal place to introduce your child to the letter-writing tradition with a letter to Santa. \n\n\n\nHave you heard about Canada Post’s Letters to Santa program? For over 40 years\, retired Canada Post employees\, or “postal elves”\, have helped Santa sort through one million letters every year. The letters let Santa know how the child is doing\, and what their hopes and wishes for the holidays may be. And\, if the letter is sent before the deadline\, they can expect a reply from Santa’s workshop! This year’s deadline is December 7\, 2026. \n\n\n\nFind our special “Santa Mail Box” in the Steveston Museum (in the room behind the post office) where children can mail their letters to Santa. Or\, the letters can be placed in your neighbourhood mailbox\, just like regular mail. \n\n\n\nThese days\, most children (and even adults) have never written a letter to someone. Writing a letter to Santa is a good way to encourage children to learn how to write letters. To make this easy\, Canada Post offers easy to fill-in letter samples on their website\, or you can visit the Steveston Museum and Post Office to fill out letters available next to the special Santa mailbox (limited to children 12 years old and younger). \n\n\n\nTeachers may be interested to know that their class writes to Santa\, he will reply with a class poster including all of the students’ names. \n\n\n\nCanada Post also has tips for international letter writers to ensure that international letters are replied to in the language that they are written in. \n\n\n\nSend your letters to Santa using the following address: \n\n\n\nSanta ClausNorth PoleH0H 0H0Canada \n\n\n\nYou don’t need a stamp if mailed from Canada\, but please include your return address! And don’t forget to mail your letter before the cut off date of Monday\, December 7\, 2026. \n\n\n\nFor more information on how to write a letter to Santa and any of the above programs\, visit Santa letter program | Canada Post
